The styrofoam insulation boards/panels are basically the same as the polystyrene used for packaging, only with smaller air pockets. Because of its higher density it is much easier to work with, using a knife, saw and/or file. The panels often have a color, either, pink, yellow, blue or green (not white). The are available in varying thicknesses, from 20 mm (1 inch) up to 100 mm (4 inches) and more. Sizes vary from 2 ft x 4 ft to 4 ftx 8 ft. The thicker materials are rugged enough to be used as without any box, making very light modules. The can be cut to size using a saw.
